About Contact History Honours Training Details JF Sports Club Policies Membership Club ShopMid Sutton Athletic Club was founded in 1979. It is a Juvenile Athletics Club, affiliated to Athletics Ireland. It was originally based in Bayside National School, Dublin 13 and caters for boys and girls aged 7 – 18 years old. We currently have 170 juvenile members, and 15 volunteer coaches. We support and develop the education of our coaches through the Athletics Ireland Coach Education Pathway. Our Club Committee and Coaches are supported by an active group of parents and former athletes who also volunteer their time to assist with the running of the Club when needed. In the last two years, our Club membership has expanded exponentially.
We are an inclusive club and cater for athletes of all abilities. There are two training sessions a week. Outdoor training takes place on Wednesday evenings in Santa Sabina School or Sutton Park School. On Sunday mornings, we encourge all our athletes to attend St. Ann's Junior Park Run. This a 2km children's run which starts at 9.30am.
Our competitive athletes compete annually in the Dublin Cross Country Championships, Dublin Indoor Championships, and Dublin Track and Field Championships. Many of our athletes have qualified for the All-Ireland stages of these competitions. In the past, some of our athletes have secured scholarships to top universities in America and have competed at National and International Level.
This year we celebrated our 40th Anniversary. On Sunday 19th January 2020, we held an Inter Club Relay Competition in NSC, Abbotstown, to mark the occasion. This was an invitational Club funded event in which over 500 athletes from Cabinteely AC, Clonliffe AC, Lucan Harriers AC, Mid Sutton AC, Portmarnock AC, and Raheny Shamrock AC competed. Photographs from this event and others are available on our Club Instagram and Facebook Accounts (Mid Sutton Athletic Club).
